Vancouver Métis Citizens Society Métis Cultural Awareness Announcements

The President of the Vancouver Métis Citizens Society (VMCS), Ron Paradis announced that a was issued by the Town of Gibsons proclaiming November 10-16, 2015 as Métis Cultural Awareness Week in Gibsons and that the Métis Infinity Flag will be raised at the Town Hall in Gibsons.
At the November 3, 2015 Council Meeting of the Town of Gibsons, George and Terry Goulet gave a talk on Louis Riel and Métis history on behalf of the VMCS. The Proclamation was then presented to Ron Paradis, President of the VMCS, by Métis Councilor Charlene SanJenko on behalf of Mayor Wayne Rowe.
On November 4, 2015 President Ron Paradis and George and Terry Goulet gave a presentation on Louis Riel and Métis history at the Council Meeting of the District of Sechelt. At the Council Meeting Mayor Bruce Milne announced that the District of Sechelt had proclaimed November 16, 2015 as Louis Riel Day in the District of Sechelt. He added that if it can be arranged Sechelt will also fly the Métis Flag.
The VMCS will be holding a Potluck for Métis and friends of the Métis on Sunday November 15, 2015. This free event will be held from 1:00-4:00 pm at Mission Point House on Sunshine Coast BC Highway 101 at Davis Bay (on the Beach side).
